Questions people ask
Do I need to own Minecraft?
Yes. Storm Client is a launcher, not a copy of the game. You sign in with your Microsoft account and need a legitimate Minecraft: Java Edition licence.
Is it free?
The launcher is completely free. Ranks are optional and only unlock cosmetics and convenience extras - nothing that affects gameplay.
Which Minecraft versions are supported?
Everything from the old releases up to the current one, with Fabric, Forge and NeoForge alongside vanilla. Storm Client pulls the version list from Mojang directly.
Will it get me banned?
No. Storm Client is a launcher and a cosmetics layer. It ships no cheats, no hacks and nothing that changes gameplay on servers.
Is there a macOS or Linux build?
Both are being worked on. The build pipeline already produces .dmg, .deb and AppImage artifacts - they are simply not published yet.
Do I need to install Java?
No. Storm Client downloads and manages the right Java runtime per profile, so a modpack that needs Java 21 gets Java 21 without you doing anything.
